Cabernet Merlot 2020
VQA NIAGARA PENINSULA | 750ML
TASTING NOTES
This red wine has nutty, earthy aromas alongside notes of plum and sour cherry. Similar flavors flow through on the palate which are complemented by soft tannins and a long finish. Will pair well with flat iron steak, blue cheese burgers and grilled vegetables like red peppers and mushrooms. Also a great match with weekday take-way meals like pizza, lasagna, beef broccoli or spaghetti and meatballs!
VINTAGE & VITICULTURE
While the season began with a wet cool spring, summer brought typical temperatures across Ontario. July was warm and sunny with intense heatwaves and high humidity. Early ripening grape varieties escaped the wild weather of late fall.
WINEMAKER’S NOTES
The fermentation and aging was done in large stainless steel vats while a portion was aged in older barriques for 4 months. This vintage is a blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 17% Merlot.
